Call For Community-based Participatory Research (CBPR) Papers

RWJF Clinical Scholars and alumni/ae are invited to submit research papers for a special issue of the American Journal of Preventive Medicine. This solicitation requests full manuscripts and brief reports on original research that demonstrates how CBPR can contribute to both scholarship and directly impact communities. Although the special issue will focus on the research in the US, examples of CBPR in other countries will also be considered, especially if the lessons learned are relevant to CBPR in the US. Similarly, the special issue plans to focus on projects with a high level of community participation and partnership, but all high quality community-based research will be considered. Papers from current Clinical Scholars and recent alumni/ae will receive priority but submissions from all Clinical Scholar alumni/ae are encouraged.

In general, these original research articles should be less than 3,000 words, but manuscripts up to 4,500 words will be considered, especially if the research is heavily reliant on qualitative analytic methods. The deadline for submission is April 30th, 2008. Papers should be sent to Brittany Weatherwax at bweather@umich.edu. Questions about the special issue should be directed to Rod Hayward, MD at  rhayward@umich.edu.
