Elizabeth Barnert, M.D.

Elizabeth Barnert, M.D. (UCLA CSP 12-14)

Elizabeth Barnert has accepted a position as a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Pediatrics at UCLA. She continues to pursue her research and advocacy interests on vulnerable children, namely those involved in juvenile justice system and youth violence. She will also have the opportunity to teach residents and provide clinical service.

Enesha Cobb

Enesha Cobb, M.D., M.T.S. (Michigan CSP 12-14, VA Scholar)

Enesha Cobb will continue as a VA scholar at the VA Palo Alto Healthcare System under the mentorship of Steve Asch.  Following a third year of fellowship, she will pursue a full-time position as a health services researcher with close ties to policy.

Tim Daskivich, M.D.

Tim Daskivich, M.D. (UCLA CSP 12-14, VA Scholar)

Timothy Daskivich will continue training as a fellow in Urologic Oncology in the Department of Urology at UCLA. His research interest continues focus on policy-directed initiatives surrounding shared decision making, efficiency of care, and quality of care for men with genitourinary cancer.

Ravi K. Dixit, M.D.

Ravi K. Dixit, M.D. (UCLA CSP 12-14)

Ravi Dixit
will serve as the Patient Safety Officer at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. There, he will be spending 70% of his time working in the Department of Quality and Safety focusing on improving patient safety at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. The remainder of this time will be spent as a Health Sciences Assistant Clinical Professor/Clinician Educator in the UCLA School of Medicine and he will focus on teaching residents and medical students in inpatient and outpatient internal medicine.


Hiu-fai Fong, M.D. (Penn CSP 12-14)

Hiu-fai Fong, MD, MSHP will be an Attending Physician in the Child Protection Program in the Division of General Pediatrics at Boston Children's Hospital and an Instructor in Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School.

Anjali Gopalan, M.D.

Anjali Gopalan, M.D. (Penn CSP 12-14, VA Scholar)

Anjali Gopalan has accepted a position as a research scientist in the Division of Research, Kaiser Permanente Northern California. In this position she will continue research on enhancing the delivery of health-related information to patients with diabetes and other chronic conditions.

April Inniss, M.D.

April Khadijah Inniss, M.D. (Michigan CSP 12-14)

April Khadijah Inniss, M.D. will complete the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars program at the University of Michigan in 2014.  She will complete a 3rd year of fellowship training with the Child Health Evaluation and Research Unit at the University of Michigan.  In 2015, she will seek a position within the children’s media industry, where she hopes to play a role in both the development and evaluation of health and wellness related content. 

Peter Jenkins, M.D.

Peter Jenkins, M.D. (Michigan CSP 12-14, VA Scholar)

Peter Jenkins, M.D. will complete the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars program at the University of Michigan in 2014.  He accepted a position as Assistant Professor of Surgery at Indiana University and Affiliated Scientist at the Regenstrief Institute.

Hemal Kanzaria, M.D. was awarded funding by the VA for a third year in the Program.

David Lee, M.D.

David Lee, M.D. (Penn CSP 12-14)

David Lee, M.D. has accepted an academic faculty position in the Department of Emergency Medicine and the Department of Population Health at the New York University School of Medicine.

Jason Lott, M.D. was awarded funding by the VA for a third year in the Program.

Chileshe Nkonde-Price, M.D.

Chileshe Nkonde-Price, M.D. (Penn CSP 12-14)

Chileshe Nkonde-Price, MD was awarded funding by the VA to continue to conduct health services research through Fall 2014. She will then then begin a faculty position at the University of Pennsylvania in the Department of Medicine.

Sharat Parameswaran, M.D.

Sharat Parameswaran, M.D. (UCLA CSP 12-14, VA Scholar)

Sharu Parameswaran has accepted a position at the New York/New Jersey VISN3 Veterans Affairs’ Mental Illness Research, Education and Clinical Center (MIRECC). He will also have a joint appointment as Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. This position offers 85% research protected time where he will focus his work on integration of physical and mental health care.

Mitesh Patel, M.D., M.B.A.

Mitesh Patel, M.D., M.B.A. (Penn CSP 12-14, VA Scholar)

Mitesh Patel, M.D, M.B.A. has accepted a position as an Assistant Professor at the Perelman School of Medicine and The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He will be an Attending Physician at the Philadelphia VA Medical Center. His research will focus on methods to improve population health and increase value within the health care delivery system by leveraging insights from behavioral economics and innovations in technology such as connected health solutions.

Ashok Reddy, M.D.

Ashok Reddy, M.D. (Penn CSP 12-14)

Ashok Reddy will be joining the faculty at University of Washington School of Medicine in the Center for Scholarship in Patent Care Quality and Safety as an Assistant Professor, Division of General Internal Medicine. In addition to conducting research to improve primary care delivery, he will see patients both in the inpatient and outpatient setting. 

Benjamin Roman, M.D.

Benjamin Roman, M.D. (Penn CSP 12-14)

Benjamin R. Roman, MD, MSHP returns to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center for one year of clinical head and neck surgical oncology fellowship. He will continue to pursue research using behavioral science knowledge to drive health care delivery redesign and innovation, with the ultimate goal of improving the quality and value of cancer care.

Kori Sauser, M.D.

Kori Sauser, M.D. (Michigan CSP 12-14, VA Scholar)

Kori Sauser, M.D. will begin a faculty position in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, with an academic appointment at Harvard Medical School.  She plans to continue to focus on understanding and improving the system of time-sensitive care delivery in the Emergency Department.

Megha Shah, M.D.

Megha Shah, M.D. (Michigan CSP 12-14)

Megha Shah, M.D. will complete the Clinical Scholars program in June of 2014.  She will be joining faculty as an assistant professor in the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine at Emory University after the completion of her fellowship.

Dr. Anne Stey

Anne Stey, M.D. (UCLA CSP 12-14)

Anne Stey, M.D. returns to residency training in general surgery. Following residency, she will pursue a clinical fellowship in pediatric surgery. Dr. Stey's research focus continues to be defining quality and value in surgery.

Efrain Talamantes, M.D.

Efrain Talamantes, M.D. (UCLA CSP 12-14, VA Scholar)

Efrain Talamantes, M.D. will pursue additional fellowship training with the UCLA NRSA Primary Care and Health Services Research. He will continue his Clinical Scholars fellowship work on understanding the community college pathway to a health professional degree and strategies towards a diverse physician workforce. Additionally, he will work on developing new system-level models of care delivery to enhance coordination of care for low-literacy and aging populations, with a focus on reducing kidney transplantation disparities while addressing social determinants of health.

Arjun Venkatesh, M.D., M.B.A.

Arjun Venkatesh, M.D., M.B.A. (Yale CSP 12-14)

Arjun Venkatesh, M.D. will be Clinical Instructor and Director of Quality and Safety Research and Strategy in the Yale Department of Emergency Medicine.

Katherine Vickery, M.D.

Katherine Vickery, M.D. (Michigan CSP 12-14)

Katherine Vickery will join the faculty at Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC), a county safety-net health care system in Minneapolis, MN, as a clinician-investigator with a primary appointment in General Internal Medicine and a secondary appointment in Family Medicine.  With this position, Kate will also be appointed as an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Minnesota.  From HCMC Kate hopes to build a career in the study and application of care delivery reform to reduce health disparities.

Jennifer Voorhees, M.D.

Jennifer Voorhees, M.D. (Yale CSP 12-14)

Jennifer Voorhees will be continuing her health services research career in the United Kingdom where she will pursue a PhD with a focus on primary care access within the National Health Service (NHS). She will utilize and build on the CBPR skills she learned in the Clinical Scholars Program for this work. She also hopes to practice part-time as a General Practitioner within the NHS.

Ilse Wiechers, M.D., M.P.P

Ilse Wiechers, M.D., M.P.P. (Yale CSP 12-14, VA Scholar)

Ilse Wiechers will be Associate Director, Northeast Program Evaluation Center, Office of Mental Health Operations, VA Central Office. She will also be joining faculty in the Department of Psychiatry, Yale School of Medicine. She will lead the national Psychotropic Drug Safety Initiative and conduct program evaluation and quality improvement efforts for mental health services across the Veterans Health Administration nationwide. She will also continue to provide care to older Veterans with mental illness in the West Haven VAMC Primary Care clinics and to teach in the Yale Geriatric Psychiatry fellowship training program.
